What Is Self-Confidence?
Self-confidence is defined by Merriam Webster as “Confidence in oneself and in one’s powers and abilities.” Breaking it down further, it is essentially having belief in your own powers and abilities to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve.
Self-confidence is a very important area of development in humans. That is because, when we have a strong belief in our own abilities to accomplish something that leads to a desired goal, we are more likely to put forth a stronger effort toward that goal. Often leading us to achieving it. When we have self-doubt, the opposite of self-confidence, this usually leads to a weaker effort. This is because there’s that lingering doubt in our minds on whether we can achieve something or not.
